On 23rd February we celebrate Rosalia·s day at school, here some all our artwork.

1st April Galician Arts Day - Francisco Asorey

On April 1st we celebrate in Galicia the Day of the Galician Arts.This year 2024, the Day of the Galician Arts is dedicated to the sculptor from Cambados Francisco Asorey.

Who was Francisco Asorey? Some information about him

Francisco Asorey was born on  4th March 1889 in Fefiñáns, Cambados (Pontevedra).He was a teacher drawing in Barakaldo, Biskaia, and in Madrid he started his first artistic works.

At the age of 29 he moved to Santiago de Compostela where he worked as an anatomical sculptor in the Faculty of Medicine. In Santiago de Compostela he set up a sculpture workshop, in the convent of San Domingos de Bonaval, and from there his first works in polychrome wood  came out: Picariña, Naiciña... In  San Francisco, he won  the Medal of the National Exhibition of Fine Arts. In 1930 he moved his workshop to the Santa Clara street in Santiago de Compostela and there he made the great monuments in granite: the aviator Joaquín Loriga, the poet Curros Enríquez, the astronomer Ramón Aller...He died on July 2nd, 1961. He was buried in the Pantheon of Illustrious Galicians, in San Domingos de Bonaval, in the city of Santiago de Compostela.

Modern animals

 Humans love wild and domestic animals. Many people have their pet at home, a dog, a cat, a puppy .... a bird.

Imagine animals dressed like people with a suit, a dress, a jumper and with accessories like  glasses, necklaces, jewelry, etc...

Peace day

 

When we think of Peace day, one of the images that comes to our minds is certainly the drawing of a dove.

Here are some doves that you have surely already seen:

Pablo Ruiz Picasso became  very famous for all his work, but this Peace dove is well known by all. What do you know about Picasso ?

As you are an artist, choose your dove, draw it  and celebrate your  Day of Peace.

Christmas is coming! Christmas 2023

Christmas is coming!! We are all in a hurry, but now more than ever we have to decorate our classroom as well.

We can make some simple Christmas  trees:

How are we going to do it? 

First, we need two green triangles, then we glue them together and fill them with soft paper to give them shape. 

Second, we make some circles with musical score. This type of  paper will be the decoration for our  Christmas tree, then add what you want : some gold or  silver stars.

Samaín/Halloween `Fiz o coleccionista de medos´Fiz, the collector of fears´

When Samaín arrives, we decorate our classrooms with  pumpkins, witches, spiders, ghosts, black curtains...

This year, 5th grade students were able to enjoy a storytelling session at the  school library as you listen to ¨Fiz o coleccionista de medos¨.
